Kevin Rowland – Biography, Family and Tour 2025

Kevin Rowland is a British singer-songwriter best known as the frontman of Dexys Midnight Runners. Born in Wolverhampton in 1953, he rose to fame with hits like “Come On Eileen” and has remained a compelling figure in pop music for more than five decades. In 2025, at age 71, he gave candid interviews about his struggles with addiction, the backlash over his album My Beauty, and his memoir Bless Me Father.

Rowland’s career has been marked by extraordinary highs and difficult lows. After forming Dexys Midnight Runners in 1978, he scored two UK number ones with “Geno” (1980) and “Come On Eileen” (1982). Yet behind the success lay personal turmoil: a serious cocaine addiction, financial ruin, and a period of living in a bedsit. His 1999 solo album My Beauty provoked a fierce backlash over its cover image, which showed him in a dress and makeup.

Despite the controversies, Rowland continues to tour and release music. His latest album with Dexys, The Feminine Divine, arrived in 2023. The Guardian reported in August 2025 that he lives in London and remains introspective about his past. This article consolidates the available facts about his life, family, career, and the questions that still surround him.
